 Traditional Chinese Medicine tools

Shanie uses the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to address many of today’s modern health concerns. TCM is one of the oldest, continually practiced healing modalities in the world. It offers a unique analysis of ailments and disorders and incorporates several different forms of treatment methods including acupuncture, herbal medicine, diet modifications, meditation and exercise.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is both preventative and curative in nature. It entails inserting fine pre-sterilized stainless steel needles into various acupuncture points on the body. These points lie on meridians where Qi (pronounced chee) or vital energy flows throughout the body. When the flow of qi becomes blocked or is deficient we see symptoms of disease. Once the correct points are stimulated the smooth flow of qi is restored and the body is once again in a state of health and balance.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine can be used in conjunction with acupuncture treatments or as an effective treatment of its own. Like acupuncture, herbs work to restore health by facilitating the smooth, balanced flow of qi. Herbs are dispensed as teas, powders, tinctures and or pills. For the most part the herbs consist of plant products such as flowers, seeds, leaves, bark and roots. Occasionally animal products are called for so please inform your practitioner if this is a problem.

 Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can be used in conjunction with an acupuncture treatment or essential oils can be used instead of needles. Only the highest quality essential oils are used. They are either diffused into the air to be inhaled, or they are put directly onto acupuncture points where they are absorbed by the skin. Custom aromatherapy blends can also be purchased for home use such as therapeutic baths, self massage or steam inhalation.
